Abstract

Happiness is an emotional state characterized by well-being, joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment, inherently subjective. In the workplace, it has become a crucial goal to enhance employees’ performance and satisfaction. Happiness Management integrates positive psychology with human resources management to foster healthy and fulfilling work environments, thereby improving performance and well-being through practices that promote happiness. This study explores the interaction between Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and the Happiness Management approach in the workplace, aiming to understand their impact on employees’ personal and work-related well-being. The fundamental rationale lies in enhancing the quality of the work environment and optimizing organizational performance by promoting happiness at work, focusing on autonomy, competence, and relationships according to SDT, alongside specific happiness management strategies. It is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and relational study involving 437 participants in southern Coahuila, using Survey Monkey for data collection. The results validated a structural model analyzed with SmartPLS 4 software, emphasizing the importance of job satisfaction, mental health, interpersonal relationships, organizational growth, and social impact as key variables influenced by happiness management.
